    WHY CHECK FOR THYROID HEALTH?

Thyroid disorders are quite prevalent especially in women.

    Symptoms of hypothyroidism include:

    • feeling cold and lethargic
    • constipation and weight gain
    • becoming forgetful or depressed
    • menstrual irregularities in women

Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) which is secreted by the pituitary gland regulates and controls the activity of the thyroid gland.

A higher than normal level of TSH in the blood indicates an underactive thyroid. Early diagnosis ensures treatment can commence sooner.

WHAT IS THE SELFCHECK THYROID HEALTH TEST?

The SELFCheck Thyroid Health Test detects increased TSH levels (hypothyroidism) from a small finger prick blood sample giving a result within 10 minutes.

This test kit has been proven to be over 95% accurate.

WHAT DOES THE TEST KIT CONTAIN?

    The test kit contains;

    • 1 test device, 1 plastic pipette and 1 desiccant pouch
    • 1 small bottle containing 1ml of diluent
    • 2 sterile single use lancets to obtain a blood sample
    • 1 instruction leaflet

HOW DO I USE THIS TEST KIT?

Please read instructions enclosed within the product on how to perform the test and get results.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I GET A POSITIVE RESULT?

Please speak to your doctor as a positive result can mean that the TSH level in your blood is higher than normal.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I GET A NEGATIVE RESULT?

If your result is negative, it indicates your TSH levels are normal. However, if you are still suffering from symptoms, speak to your GP for further advise.
