    WHAT IS VICKS VAPORUB?

    Vicks Vaporub is an ointment which contains menthol, eucalyptus and camphor which together provide a 4-in-1 relief from symptoms of cold and flu.

    Menthol and camphor help to ease a cough. Eucalyptus and menthol help relieve nasal congestion. Eucalyptus also helps relieve catarrh.

    Vicks Vaporub should always be used at the first sign of a cold to get maximum benefit.

    HOW TO USE VICKS VAPORUB?

    Adults – rub liberally over chest, back or throat. Cover whole area for maximum effect. Wear loose night clothes to allow vapours to be inhaled easily.

    OR

    Place hot (not boiling) water in a suitable bowl for inhalation. Melt 2 teaspoons of Vicks Vaporub into the bowl of hot water. Keep sufficient distance from mixture to avoid burning of the face by the vapours. Inhale for 10 to 15 minutes.

    Children over 2 years – Gently rub a small amount on the chest and back. Leave clothes loose for easy inhalation.

    If symptoms persist or worsen, or in case of fever, please consult your doctor or pharmacist.

    WHAT ARE SOME OF THE CAUTIONS OF USING VICKS VAPORUB?

    Do not use Vicks Vaporub:

    • If you are allergic to any of the ingredients
    • On broken skin, wounds or mucous membranes
    • As an inhalation for children under 12 years
    • On children under 2 years of age

    Do not swallow or place in nostrils, mouth, eyes or face. Do not heat in the microwave or use with heat wrap.

    WHAT ARE SOME OF THE SIDE-EFFECTS OF VICKS VAPORUB?

    Like all medications, Vicks Vaporub can cause side-effects, although not all patients will experience these.

    Redness or irritation of skin, irritation of eyes (by inhalation) or allergic reactions may occur, although these are usually mild and occur rarely.
