    WHY IS THIS TEST IMPORTANT?

    Helicobacter pylori is a bacteria that causes conditions such as gastritis which can progress to stomach ulcers if left untreated.

    However, if detected early enough, a combination of antibiotic and antacid medication can eliminate the bacteria damaging the protective lining of the stomach thus stopping stomach ulcers from forming.

    If the infection is left untreated, there is also a risk of developing stomach cancer.
