    Pregnacare Plus pack provides the original fully comprehensive multivitamin tablet, which delivers the essential nutrients for pregnancy including the recommended level of 400µg folic acid and 10 µg vitamin D as advised by the UK Department of Health during pregnancy and breast-feeding, plus an additional Omega-3 capsule to provide a rich source of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).

    Pregnacare Plus has been specially developed so that mothers-to-be can safeguard their extra dietary requirements, without confusion about which supplements to take.

    It contains 20 nutrients including:

    • Folic acid – which contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy
    • Vitamin D – which has a role in the process of cell division
    • Iron – which is specifically formulated with an ideal, moderate level of iron
    • Iodine – which contributes to normal production of thyroid hormones and function
    • Omega-3 DHA – maternal intake contributes to normal foetal brain & eye development
    • B Vitamins – vitamins B2, B6, B12 contribute to normal red blood cell formation

    DIRECTIONS FOR USE

    One tablet (green blister) per day, plus one capsule (pink blister) per day. Take with your main meal.

    Swallow with water or a cold drink. Not to be chewed. Do not exceed the recommended intake. To be taken only on a full stomach.

    As Pregnacare contains vitamin K, if you are taking oral anticoagulants (blood thinners) do not take Pregnacare except on the advice of a doctor. This product contains iron, which if taken in excess, may be harmful to very young children.

    WHEN IS PREGNACARE PLUS RECOMMENDED?

    Pregnacare Plus is recommended as soon as you start trying to conceive to help safeguard your nutritional needs before you find you are pregnant and throughout the whole of your pregnancy. Pregnacare Plus can be used for as long as required, and can be started at any point during pregnancy.

    WHY ARE OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS IMPORTANT?

    Adults can obtain DHA and EPA indirectly through the conversion of the essential fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), present in vegetable oils such as linseed but this process is very inefficient. Fish oils provide a much more reliable, direct source of DHA and EPA. The foetus and infant in early life need to receive these fatty acids directly as they only have a limited capability to convert essential fatty acids to more active long chain fatty acids such as DHA.

    WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING TO USE PREGNACARE PLUS?

    Pregnacare Plus has been carefully developed by a team of medical experts and is based upon solid scientific research evidence, as a nutritional safeguard for women from before conception and throughout all of pregnancy. Pregnacare Plus is a multivitamin and fish oil supplement formulated to safeguard the nutritional needs of mother and baby. Pregnacare Plus replaces your usual daily multivitamin. Your doctor may wish to prescribe an additional iron supplement after the 13th week of pregnancy, which may be taken with Pregnacare Plus.

    CAN PREGNACARE PLUS BE TAKEN WITH OTHER MEDICATIONS?

    As a general rule, Pregnacare Plus can be taken alongside medications because it contains only moderate levels of vitamins and minerals. However, if you are already taking prescribed supplements or medications, seek advice from your doctor or health professional first. As Pregnacare Plus contains vitamin K, if you are taking oral anticoagulants (blood thinners) do not take Pregnacare Plus except on the advice of a doctor.

    ARE THERE ANY UNDESIRED SIDE EFFECTS WHEN TAKING PREGNACARE PLUS?

    Pregnacare Plus has no known side-effects when taken as directed. Do not exceed the recommended tablet/capsule intake. In case of overdose, seek medical advice immediately.
