    Zovirax Cold Sore Cream

Zoriax Cold Sole Cream is not only simple to use, but also clinically proven to help reduce healing time. It can be used in adults and children for the treatment of a cold sore which is an infection caused by the herpes simplex virus. It comes in a pack size of 2 grams.

    What are Cold Sores?

A cold sore usually starts with a tingling, itching or burning feeling. Over the next 48 hours small fluid-filled blisters appear, which can appear anywhere on the face and then burst and crust over into a scab. Cold sores are common and usually clear up on their own within 10 days but are contagious and may be irritating or painful while they heal. They are contagious from the moment you first feel tingling or other signs of a cold sore coming on to when the cold sore has completely healed. There are things you can do to help ease the pain and pharmacists can recommend creams to ease pain and irritation and antiviral creams to speed up healing time such as Zovirax Cold Sore Cream.

    How to Use

It should be applied at the first sign of a tingle, bump or itch. If you miss the first signs, it can also be started to use at the blister stage. It should be applied to the affected area five times a day at approximately four hourly intervals, omitting the night time application, for four days.

You should continue treating with Zovirax Cold Sore Cream for at least 4 days. If healing has not occurred, treatment may be continued for up to 10 days. If the cold sore persists after 10 days, talk to your healthcare professional.

Always wash your hands with soap and water before and after treating your cold sore and remove any cosmetics before applying Zovirax Cold Sore Cream.  It can be applied with a cotton swab or your finger, using enough to completely cover the sore and surrounding area. If you miss a dose, just apply the next time you remember and continue on schedule.

    Cautions

If you regularly get cold sores, use antiviral creams as soon as you recognise the early tingling feeling.

They do not always work after blisters appear.

    See your GP if:

    • It has not started to heal within 10 days
    • You are concerned, worried or think it’s something else
    • The cold sore is very large or painful
    • You have swollen, painful gums and sores in the mouth
    • You have a weakened immune system due to e.g. chemotherapy or diabetes

Can I use Zovirax Cold Sore Cream during pregnancy or if I’m breastfeeding?

Take special care and check with your doctor before you use Zovirax Cold Sore Cream during pregnancy, when you’re trying to become pregnant or breastfeeding.

What happens if I swallow some Zovirax Cold Sore Cream?

If you accidentally use too much or swallow the cream, it is unlikely that any untoward effects would occur. However, if you swallow a large amount of the cream, it is recommended that you speak to a doctor.

Can I start using Zovirax Cold Sore Cream if I feel a tingle but the cold sore hasn’t erupted?

Yes. It’s best to begin using Zovirax Cold Sore Cream at the first sign of a cold sore.

Can I start using Zovirax Cold Sore Cream after the blister has developed?

Yes. Zovirax Cold Sore Cream can also be started during the blister stage to help reduce the time to heal. However, it’s best when treatment is started at the tingle stage.

Will the scab on my cold sore interfere with absorption of Zovirax Cold Sore Cream?

Once the scab has formed, your cold sore has nearly healed. Continue applying the product as directed for four days. Or if not healed by then, up to 10 days in total.
